- Nutty WordPerfect Bug Uncovered
For the last month or so, the other computers at work were having trouble with being able to modify documents created on my workstation. We thought we had taken care of the problem last week but alas, it was more of the same today. I could open up a new .wps file and not have a problem with permissions. However, if I were to modify the document in the least, the permissions would be denied. It was very odd.
Our computer guy comes out and after about 45 minutes of brainstorming, we figure out that although permissions were set for our shared documents, the temp file that WordPerfect uses was not allowing modifications from other computers over the LAN. Once that was fixed, everything worked perfectly.
We couldn't find anything about it on the net. Corel's patch doesn't address the issue. But I'm just glad we got it fixed.

- 4/30 Dream Post
I am a grown man but dreams are one thing that scare me. It doesn't matter that I'm in a secure house and the dawn is breaking. I have been having some crazy dreams the past few weeks, so much so that I have decided to start up this blog. It will be nice to keep track of them if I need to. Using a notebook is so 20th century, you know?
Anyway, I woke up scared today. I was watching this dream in the third person, as though it was a movie I had some emotional involvement in. I was watching Harrison Ford run through an airport or some other area with lots of corridors and people and get chased by:
1) Human-looking robots a la Blade Runner;
2) A large metal robot about 20' tall and half as wide, with thick metal hydrolic legs (and, of course, the yellow and black safety stripes on it); and, as he made it to the rooftop, a
3) Small, cylindrical flying object with a camera (and who knows what else) aboard.
I don't even know if he made it to safety. I woke up scared and wondering what every noise I heard was. I'm not sure if I was subconsiously watching some wierd sequel to Blade Runner or something. Quite bizarre. I have lots of dreams where I'm being chased. This is the first starring Harrison Ford.
The funny thing is that I was convinced I'd seen the situation before and soon after I woke up, I looked for the movie in IMDB. Imagine my surprise when I found nothing about it.
