  • SoCal Video Sessions (The Secret 6 / Silver Needle)

Today, we bring you two quality videos from independent Southland artists, "The Secret 6" and "Silver Needle".

The Secret 6, a indie rock group from Long Beach, are currently putting together their debut album "hello_the_end" with producer/engineer Anthony Arvisu over at The Compound.  They recently played a VH1 Save The Music Foundation benefit at Woodbury University and will be in Reese Witherspoons movie "Penelope" coming out this May around the same time as their new record.

"So if you find yourself rocking out while Christina Ricci is making out with James McAvoy just know that's our

tune responsible for your head bobbing" – The Secret Six

    The Secret 6 - "Familiar"

I recently saw local band Silver Needle play a show at the Key Club with Insomnia Favorites, "The Hot Toddies" as well as "The Power Cords" from IR: SoCal session #4.  Honestly, I currently don't know too much about SN although they have played with notable acts such as Joan Jett, Dee Dee Ramone, Duff McKagen, The Living End, and Living Colour, and have been getting some occasional airplay on a few FM stations in the area.  They also have several endorsements (e.g Monster Energy Drink) and their bass player Johnny

99 is a co-founder of the infamous Kiss or Kill Club here in LA

All eight artists featured in this session either have a new offering out or are currently working on new material, which definitely makes us feel productive in helping them get the word out.

  • IR: The SoCal Sessions #5 - The Enigmatic "33"
A brand new music feed has opened up solely for Los Angeles, Orange County, the Inland Empire, Ventura, Santa Barbara, and surrounding areas.  Bundled with this feed is a new episode of The SoCal Sessions, namely our fifth release since Jason Evangelho officially smashed a glass over our prow in late October.

We picked some of the best music we could find to package up and fire to you straight down this pristine feed.   First up is the buzzworthy band "August House" from Orange County, then stalwart pop pioneers "Smart Brown Handbag" from Los Angeles. This is followed by a three part blast from up and coming LA indie rock groups "The Day", "Hide All Night", and the "Mezzanine Owls".   You won't be disappointed.

Rounding out the bunch comes "Pigeon John", the self proclaimed karaoke master from Inglewood, followed by a dose of music from Colorado, Jamaica, and Los Angeles, with the latin-tinged reggae stylings of "Mr. Anonymous" featuring "Michael Rose" and "Dave Wakeling".

As for the title of the show, well, let's just say it has something to do with age and relaxing with a few green bottles of beer while editing the show.  Rock!
