  • Carmen's 'Lesbian Lust' Lifts Her Sexy Rating
Carmen's 'Lesbian Lust' Lifts Her Sexy Rating

Reports of sexbomb Carmen Electra's alleged lesbian lust for veteran rocker Joan Jett has sent the former Baywatch babe soaring up an annual poll to find the world's sexiest woman.

Curvy Carmen, 34, currently starring in Brit flick I Want Candy, is now provisionally in the Top Five of this year's FHM’s Sexiest Women in the World survey.

And FHM staff believe Electra has been given a boost by rumours of her alleged lesbian love affair with 1980’s rocker Joan Jett.

  • Sit in jail, pay the bill
Sit in jail, pay the bill

There'll be no free lunch -- no free anything -- at the Marion County Jail. The county soon will begin charging inmates for their care -- $11.75 a day at the minimum.

A resolution passed this week by the Marion County Commission means the end of "free room and board, three squares a day" at the jail, said Randy Dallke, commission chairman.

The charges will take effect after the resolution is published in the county newspaper, said Karen Selznick, office manager at the Marion County Attorney's office.

Marion County Sheriff Lee Becker said Kansas law allows him to charge for jail time. Currently, the bill is passed to taxpayers, who pay a little more than $18 a day to house a prisoner.

  • Mel goes ballistic
    Mel goes ballistic

TMZ has learned Mel Gibson exploded in anger last night on a college campus after an expert on Mayan culture accussed him of racially stereotyping the Mayans in the movie "Apocalypto."

After Gibson's presentation, the crowd was allowed to ask questions. Alicia Estrada, an Assistant Professor of Central American Studies at CSUN, challenged Gibson, asking him if he had read about the Mayan culture before shooting the controversial film. Gibson said he had.

Estrada persisted, stating that representations in the movie that the Mayans engaged in sacrificial ceremonies and had bloodthirsty tendencies were both wrong and racist. Estrada and others tell TMZ that Gibson exploded in anger, responding, "Lady, F**k off."

    The Homeless Camera Adventure

The idea is simple. Give people who live on the streets a camera. Publish the results.

There are ample venues where one can view photos of the homeless, but what happens when we turn that concept around and see life through the eyes of the homeless?

  • Lamp in a bulb
    Lamp in a bulb

This lamp is nice, the idea is new, and the design is great.

I tried hard to find a title for my story; somehow I did not like the official name. I think it does not do justice to the piece. So, I have decided to call my story and the product "lamp in a bulb."

The designers have called it The Blow Table Lamp, but for ease of definition I'd like to go with lamp in a bulb. You'll see why as you read on.

The Blow Table Lamp has been created by Studio Italia Design and is a Pio and Tito Toso design. Looks stunning and once you have it in your house; it will be the topic of conversation

  • Tao of the dude
    Tao of the dude

    1. Zen and the Art of Dudeism:
    The Dude Attitude

    By Oliver Benjamin

    What makes a dude?

Is it being prepared to do nothing at all? Whatever the price? Isn't that what makes a dude? Of what value is achievement, competitors bested, obstacles overcome? Strong men also get high. Strong men also get high.

Astute readers and fans of the cult film The Big Lebowski will note that the above is a shameless reworking of one of its scenes. In the original, a wealthy old cripple posits “What makes a man?” and expounds on his achievements and a lifetime of moralistic rigor. The charge he is addressing, a washed-out ex hippie who goes by the name “The Dude” smokes a joint and concludes that all that makes a man is simply “a pair of testicles.”

    Housewife convicted of frying husband

A Brazilian housewife was convicted and sentenced to 19 years in prison Friday for killing her husband, chopping his body into small pieces and frying it. Rosanita Nery dos Santos, 52, drugged her husband in his sleep, then stabbed him to death two years ago in Salvador, about 900 miles northeast of Sao Paulo, said police spokesman Idmar Bonfim.

She then hacked Jose Raimundo Soares dos Santos' body into more than 100 pieces, which she boiled and fried before hiding in plastic bags beneath a staircase in her house, Bonfim said. He said police discovered the body parts after receiving an anonymous phone call.

Bonfim said the killing was either part of a black magic ritual or an attempt by the wife to collect life insurance worth about $34,000

Jane Austen 'too ugly' for book cover

Novelist Jane Austen has been given a makeover for the cover of a book about her life after publishers decided an original image of her was unattractive.

"She was not much of a looker," said Helen Trayler, managing director of publisher Wordsworth Editions.

Publishers traditionally use a portrait of Austen painted by her sister but Wordsworth have added make-up, hair extensions and removed her night-cap.

The book is a new edition of a memoir by Austen's nephew.

    Tory runs lapdance bar

A Conservative councillor is breaking the stereotype of the Tory "blue rinse brigade" by running a lapdancing bar.

By day, 25-year-old Kimberley Anderson helps residents in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, to resolve issues such as nuisance youths and broken kerb stones.

By night, she is manager of Liverpool's newly-opened Privilege club, where a fully naked lapdance costs £5.

Miss Anderson, who was voted onto the Sutton ward of Ellesmere Port and Neston Council last May, says there is no clash between her job and her politics.
