- Canyon Lake Reopens with Saturday Event, Mar. 1 Grand Re-Opening Celebration Completes Drawdown, Dam Maintenance Project
After nearly five months of inactivity because of lowered lake levels and maintenance work at Mormon Flat and Horse Mesa dams, Canyon Lake will spring back to life Saturday with a Grand Re-Opening Celebration Event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

PHOENIX (January 8, 2008) The Tonto National Forest announced today that forest recreation passes can now be bought via the forest internet site. This includes the half-price Tonto day passes for holders of the national Senior and Access passes. The national Interagency pass can be purchased only in conjunction with the Tonto upgrade.

PHOENIX (November 26, 2007) - All over-the-counter Christmas tree tags at the Tonto National Forest have been sold. Approximately 1,200 are still available at the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests: 928-333-4301.

PHOENIX (November 21, 2007) - Only 45 Christmas Tree-cutting tags remain for the Apache-Sitgreaves and Kaibab national forest tree-cutting areas. The tags, which did not sell through the Sale-by-Mail Christmas Tree-cutting program, are for sale at the Tonto National Forest Supervisors Office, 2324 East McDowell Road in Phoenix, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The office is closed Thanksgiving Day.

- HAIGLER FIRE
Phoenix (October 26, 2007) - The Haigler Fire has burned about 600 acres and is approximately 40% contained. Locals may expect to see smoke this afternoon and evening as the firefighters fortify firelines by conducting burnout operations on the west side of the fire.
