- Create Auto Reply Emails with Outlook Rules & Template
This week I got an email from a friend who changed his email address and contact information. He asked me the best way to notify his contacts. I sent some suggestions and then remembered Microsoft Outlook rules could compliment his solution. Outlook could send an automatic reply using an email template to people based on certain conditions. You might think of this as a conditional auto-reply.

- Secunia PSI Finds Software Vulnerabilities
Most Windows users know they need to regularly update their operating system. Some even mark "Patch Tuesday" on their calendars. But, how do you go about updating software from other manufacturers? For many, the best solution might be a beta program called Secunia PSI (Personal Software Inspector). You might think of it as a personal patch management program for known software vulnerabilities.

- Web Finds Week 28
The July 4th holiday weekend is often full of tales of fireworks, independence, entertainment and the weather. The stories I spotted for this week’s web finds fall into similar categories. I also added an extra dose on privacy which seems to be setting a lot of people off this weekend.

However, there are differences. One example is Live Mail may display the image border with a red X and not the contents.

- Where is the Thrill in Buying a PC
One of the ironies of getting a new computer is that for the first week, you’re less productive. I hate this period as I need to get work done. Part of this is my own doing as I need to move software from one computer to another. Most of my frustration is from how manufacturers and retailers treat consumers.

- Use Your Voice to Power Microsoft Word
When it comes to PCs, we often think the only input methods are the keyboard and mouse. Yet, your voice can be surprisingly effective and fast. This is especially true when you dictate documents using Office Speech Recognition with Microsoft Word. Voice input can also be valuable if you run into issues where typing is difficult because of illness or injury.

- Using Outlook Message Options to Spot Fakes
Have you ever wanted to see if an email item was fake, but did not want to open the item in Outlook? Sometimes it’s an email that looks real, but you’re not certain. One quick test I use to judge email is to use the message options feature, which shows the email header information.

- What is USB?

I’ll admit it can be confusing, but I’m glad I no longer have to wrestle with parallel and serial ports. I’ll explain the differences and tell you how to find out which version you’re using.
