- Paris does Prison
From TMZ:
Paris Hilton was just ordered back to jail in Lynwood to serve out the remainder of her sentence! She'll get credit for at least 5 days already served.
Hilton left the courtroom in tears, screaming, "Mom, Mom, Mom." Hilton was also heard saying "It's not right."
One witness said that Paris was "physically escorted" out of the courtroom by a female deputy.
Seriously it is all so grouse. The whole situation is entirely grouse. And sad. I about puked when I heard she was on house arrest. If you're going to put a chick like that on house arrest, put her in the ghetto without a cell phone, her dog and her parents. For real. As ridiculous as the whole thing is, I can't help but feel some pity for the girl. She just doesn't even know, yo.
Although, seriously, probably the best thing, instead of jail, would be to hit them in the pocketbook. Have her pay a heafty fine, donated to some charity. What's jail going to do?

- Monkey Bread Recipe
Monkey Bread recipe in the food blog.
I made it a few weeks ago for the last day of Spanish class and then again today. It is yummy, but really I shouldn't be having such sweets in the morning. I should know better, but I'm a slow and stubborn learner.

- Richard Jeni Suicide
Comedian Richard Jeni dies [link]. Found here.
What is it about comedians? Chirs Farley comes to mind as I ponder Richard Jeni's suicide. People who are incredibly talented and delightful entertainment to many, but very complicated individuals on the inside. Sometimes it seems that "mental illness" breeds a creative and spunky soul (or the other way around, however that works).

- Rape is Hilarious
If you're not up for swearing, this link probably isn't for you. It is a great post: Rape is Hilarious. Follow the link here for more food for thought.
But being overcome in the bodice-ripping, shoulder-grabbing, shaken-and-tossed sexual encounter of films (and soap operas and romance novels, where female characters more often marry their rapists than report them) is yet regarded as the most coveted ovation a man can bestow on a woman, the purest expression of his raw desire and an irrefutable commentary on her irresistible desirability. Only driving a man to almost-rape you is definitive proof of your allure as a woman. (So we’re told.)
I can't say anything that would sum it up better than she did, so I won't try.

- ReviewMe A Scam
I don't normally do the whole "pay for blogging" thing, but thought ReviewMe looked pretty safe and was worth a try. My first review I received payment for promptly, but not the second one. I've been waiting for over a month for payment and my attempted contacts has, so far, not yielded any response. Nothing. Nada.
I'm worried.
I wrote them again, asking for payment. And now am googling to see if I can find anyone else in a similar situation. I'd love to update this soon saying the money is in my account. We will see. But for now I'm very leery.
Updated: May 16, three days later. They contacted me back and they paid me. Whew.

- Paris Hilton is Going to Jail
My public need me, says Paris Hilton
Jail-bound socialite Paris Hilton urged fans today to sign a petition to pardon her "mistake" because she provides beauty and excitement to "(most of) our otherwise mundane lives". [link]
If that's not scary, I don't know what is. Sadly, there's probably some truth to that, for some people. I'll admit to watching reality TV and Paris-y shows on television. I do it mostly when I want my brain to relax. Kind of weird, I know. But it is junk food for the brain with no calories.
Of coarse you can see all kinds of "Paris Hilton Goes to Jail" videos on YouTube. Paris' life is the fantasy of many young women, being filthy rich and thin and famous. Doesn't get better than that, right?
I know a lot of people blame government for the ills of society, but look around. There's a LOT more factoring into what society is becoming plastered on billboards, magazines and television. People in power that young boys and girls idoloize and want to emulate, serving as nothing but to be rich, powerful and reckless. People watch them because they are a train wreck, but then somehow get sucked into the wreck themselves. When people in other countries think of America, do they think of Paris Hilton?

- iGoogle and Go Away Paris
Some more random thunking if you will.
Has anyone else noticed iGoogle? A Google-based homepage? I don't know if I'm totally behind with the hip Google times, but I'm kind of digging iGoogle. Totally fun is this LabPixies page where you can get gadgets for your iGoogle or for your webpage. Games, calculators, weather... Browsing through the games I found one that I've been playing for years (mainly on hand-drawn "boards")
Another interesting site: GoAwayParis.com. No, it is not referring to the French, but to the lovable gal we all know named Paris. Interested? Go to Citizens For a Better America on Myspace. Listen to the catchy toon.

- SAHM/WAHM vs. Working Mom
My last entry was Monday and here it is, already Friday. My how time flies. It has been such a rainy week. Rain rain and more rain. Not that rain is entirely bad; the flowers are blooming, grass is growing, green abounds. But there's also brown mud all over, making outside play a bit cumbersome.
Sophia's LaCrosse game was cancelled this week due to rain, and DT's soccer game was also postponed. Which was fine with me because the game fell on a work night for me and I have a much easier time working in the evening if I don't think anything is going on and I'm not missing too terribly much. Although I did miss the boys throwing pies at Awana. Frank kindly took videos of them using his camera phone. After I got home from work I plopped down in my chair and watched the videos, tearing up a bit because they were incredibly cute and I missed it, live, but what a joy to be able to see it regardless.
. . .
The jury is still out for me on the SAH/WAHM vs. WM (working mom) front.

- Happy Monday
Hello Monday. How are you? I'm tired. Cranky. But loving the wonderful weather. Glad the rain was last night and not today. Looking forward to the kid's soccer game.
Edited to add: You know it is Monday when... You find your computer clock is 15 minutes slow, realize you are late. Then, as you realize you are late and dig for your keys, you can not find your keys. The last person to have them was your husband. He is at work. He has no recollection of having said keys. You have to call your MOTHER to come from across town to pick you up and take you LATE to the job you started less than a month ago. Sigh. 'Tis Monday, yes.

- Celebrity Blogs
Celebrity dish? I like it sometimes. Some yummies and links from my recent surfing...
Three of the biggest egos in show business, Tyra Banks, Beyonce Knowles and Kimora Lee (in no particular order, mind you), spent a girls’ night out, courtside, at a recent Knick's game. - link
TMZ is always the dirt
Fatback
And because I'm not an Oprah-minion (and GreasyGuide is da grease)...
While Oprah is a demi-God to some I take her with a grain of salt. I love her charity work, her show topics, and her upliftment of the people. But sometimes she like to sit a top a might white horse and point fingers at people... link
CelebrityPuke will do ya.
I'm not that into celebrities, but I am. But I'm not. If that makes any sense, which I doubt it does. I like reading about it when I want to veg on something useless that doesn't really hold water with me. But I also find the whole "celebrity" and the power it has attained quite sickening, sad and frightening. Maybe it is like drinking a Diet Coke. Totally bad for you, can rot a spoon if you let it sit in a glass filled with bubble brown long enough, but it tastes so good sometimes.

- Playing Secretary
Work is going well. Although I'm not sure why I wanted a job. Oh yeah. Money, experience, all that. Yeah that's why. The pastor I work for is great. She's funny, young. A mom. I like her. My hours are pretty cool, with the exception that they eat into my slothing time, which any job would do.
