Matthew Kalman of San Francisco Chronicle's Foreign Service writes today about the outcry in Israel over the poor execution of the war.
He seems to think that the Israelis won the war, or will win it soon when the UNSC resolution is fully implemented. Yes, and democracy will break out all over the Middle East if the Bush Doctrine is fully implemented. There is only the small matter of the headline in the same edition of the paper that reads "Iraq war has Bush Doctrine in tatters." I think our media is still nicer to Israeli war hawks than it is to our own.
Mr Kalman continues...
For many Israelis, the arrogance and failure of Olmert and Halutz and their refusal to resign are symptomatic of a country that has lost its sense of spiritual heart and historical mission, replacing them with the mindless pursuit of money, sex and power.
Its not clear from this article what exactly the Israelis are clamoring for. Are they fed up with this perpetual state of war, or are they clamoring for a more brutal and efficient execution of the wars. Mr Kalman does not mention the the Palestinians. Israel has always raped and plundered them. Maybe they are just turning on themselves now.
"Senator meets with Indian Americans over alleged slur" read the headline in the Chronicle. The purpose of the meeting? To kiss some ass. They are talking about Senator George Allen, the great white hope of right wing conservatism, and his descent into mindless bigotry.
Allen did not make his remark because Mr. Sidarth was Indian. He made his remark because Sidarth had brown skin. Allen should go kiss the ass of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. I don't think NAACP is presenting its rump to the Senator. It may have something to do with confusion over the meaning of "colored". Therefore, as the acting (and self-appointed) Executive Director of the NAABrownSkinnedP I demand that Senator Allen please come and kiss my Macaca ass. [The headline in the online addition is slightly different]
I stubbed my toe on the coffee table this morning. Actually the table scooted across the floor and attacked my toes. Later I found a Hebrew training manual in the tables possession. I tried to ignore the manual because I hate conspiracy theories.
Israeli troops have been finding Persian speaking corpses among the Hizbullah dead. Many of them have Persian training manuals in their pockets, complete with logos of the Islamic Republic or Iran and a map that says "I came from over here".
Every time the Indian army kills a Kashmiri militant or innocent bystander, they find an Urdu document in his backpack that details his honorable discharge from the Pakistan army.
Muhammad Atta spoke fluent English to his many blonde and athletic girlfriends, yet he felt the need to bring an Arabic flight manual with him, only to leave it on passenger seat of his car. He even brought his real passport with him, even though he was traveling under an assumed name. Attas passport survived the hottest gasoline fire mankind will ever see.
Why cant evildoers simply wear black hats or turbans and speak in accents? Why must they carry training manuals, and other incriminating documents, in their native languages? Why does a coffee table need to complete the rope course at a Mossad facility? Everytime we laugh at this stuff, the terrorists win.
Angry Arab explains why The UNSC 1701 Resolution is a fraud. I think he is too angry to break the whole thing out into paragraphs.
Angry Arab will be at the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco on August 22nd.

Hi guys at Muslimwakeup. I wrote this semi-satirical piece on Qana -- to contain the grief. to keep myself from going nuts. (anonymous)
IDF strike on Qana kills at least 56, 34 of whom are children. The slaughter is routinely cleansed by expressions of regret for the loss of human life only to be followed by promises ofmore manly onslaughts in a war that has proven to be all too real for those on the receiving end.
Yes this war is real to echo an Israeli officer.
Surely this will raise some fascinating debates in intellectual circles about the exact nature of innocence and the onset of adulthood.
Perhaps the liberal law Professor over at Cambridge can contribute to this enlightening discourse, helping us figure out the exact age at which innocent children turn into guilty civilians. Where, lets say, does a young fourteen year old fall on the civilian continuum?
Should he be nipped in the bud in a preemptive strike before he becomes a security risk?
With the usual heart warming expressions of regret.
Should the legal marriage age for women correspond to the civilia slot on the continuum? What about regional variations? If a young girl is married off at the age of thirteen in the global south, then, surely there is no reason to absolve her of responsibility for dwelling along the axis of evil.
Scholars have argued that marriage constitutes an initiation into adulthood. It is therefore safe to conclude that a thirteen year old girl in an Arab village, particularly given her fertility and potential to pop out more security risks, is a legitimate target for national security.
Fellowships will be provided to moderate scholars from the Muslim world to determine regional variations in legal marriage age and to trace alarming fecundity trends.
Global conferences galore!!
Funding will be sought from the Guardians of the two holiest shrines in a spirit of friendship and cooperation to promote moderate Islam.
Money from religious schools in Pakistan will be diverted to Lebanon. Liberal Professors work as educational consultants, providing maps of guilt free zones to save troubled hearts and minds.
Condi Rice and Karen Hughes join historic initiative to save Muslim girls from barbaric marriage practices. Start girls school in Beirut suburb complete with piano lessons and prayers for peace.
Ann Coulter contemplates opening missionary branch in nearby countries to rescue America from hardened fundies and Godless liberals.
I went to a dinner party with our own Patricia Dunn last night. Pats been holding up the fort at MWU while Ahmed and I have gone AWOL. I got a chance to meet a couple of other women that I have not seen in over fifteen years. They were all young hoodlums Ahmed and I hung out with back when MWU was a mostly radio show and prankster organization. They have all blossomed into beautiful mothers now, and strong pillars of society. It was a beautiful dinner. Things only turned ugly when last of the cake and ice cream was gone. Pat came out and threatened me if I did not start writing for the magazine again. So here I am. Sometime all I need is a little smack on the side of the head.
All of us at Muslimwakeup.com would like to wish our Editor-in-Chief a very, very, happy birthday!
Happy Birthday Ahmed!
The Islamic Writers Alliance is holding its second annual poetry contest, in coordination with National Poetry Month, which is, of course, April.
Our theme this year is the Prophet Muhammad, and was chosen because of the unfortunate cartoon incident. Winners will receive a small monetary award. All entries will be considered for publication in an e-book anthology of the best poems, which will be free to the public and hopefully serve to inspire Muslims and non-Muslims alike, as well as edify us all about the character and impact of Prophet Muhammad, and exemplify the Qur'anic teaching to reach out to others with the most beautiful of words.
We have three categories: One for youth (ages 6-17), one for adults (18 and older) and one for IWA members, so as to avoid any suggestion of unfair judging.
The contest is open to everyone. All forms of poetry welcome. One poem per author.
Submissions are due by April 30th, and should be emailed to poetrycontest. Please include a cover page with the author's name and contact info, subsequent pages should have only the title and page number, with no labels to identify the author, to ensure blind judging.
Full guidelines are available at www.islamicwritersalliance.net/projects/contest2006.htm

I have been back from Pakistan for several weeks now. I was going to write about it and post pictures. I never got around to it. Sorry.
Most of my time in Pakistan was spent doing relief work with Sungi in both Kashmir and NWFP. I posted a little about it here during my first few days at the base camp at Bisyan. I also did some work for RisePak which is an initiative to manage information about the relief efforts.
I was interviewed last night on Prime Time, the main news program on Ireland's RTE channel, regarding the Danish Cartoon controversy.
You can watch it here [Real] if you're bored and have 10 minutes to waste.
