The global fiber optic sensors market is projected to cross US$650 million by 2010, with United States and Asia-Pacific spearheading the market. The need for new enhanced sensors that are technologically advanced and capable of providing rapid results is expected to lead to the increasing use of fiber optic sensors in various industries.
ROA Group forecasts that 711.6 million Chinese people, which is 52.5% of the total population, will subscribe to mobile communications service by 2010. In the new research report, Chinese Mobile Market Forecast and Carrier Strategy 2005-2010, Full Year 2006, ROA Group has examined the rapidly growing mobile market of China. As of the end of December 2006, the number of mobile subscribers in China reached 443.57 million. The number of prepaid users in China was 284.05 million in 2006 and the number is forecasted to exceed 470 million by 2010.
The number of mobile users in South Korea will reach 41.95 million by 2010, which is 85% of the total population in South Korea. Solid growth for WCDMA (3G) is expected in the near future and the number of users is expected to increase to 23.05 million by 2010.
The wireless phone subscriber base in India has already crossed the 100 million mark and will more than double to 265.2 million by 2010. Providers will continue to rake in profits, however, Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) levels have declined significantly, and the downward trend is expected to continue.
The Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) telecom services market was worth over US$183 billion in 2006 and is projected to achieve 10% growth to exceed US$202 billion in 2007. Growth will continue to come from VoIP, Broadband, IP Services and 3G Services. In addition, the networking equipment market, estimated at over US$7.2 billion in 2006, is expected to grow to over US$8 billion in 2007.
