Cyndi mention:
EG: What was your experience like singing alongside Cyndi Lauper?
MC: She’s a beautiful person. She’s so funny. She’s so in love with artists and so warm and supportive. She really loved all the people she brought together for the tour. She’s also very much in charge. ... She taught me how to sing. How many people can say that?

Among the random blur of celebrity cameos that added up to MTV's "Video Music Awards" Sunday, Justin Timberlake made the one good point.
"I want to challenge MTV to play more videos," Timberlake declared. "We don't want to see 'The Simpsons' on reality television. We want more videos!"
How often does the big winner at an awards show ask the hosts to pay more attention to the entity the show exists to honor?
Timberlake was dancing in the dark, of course. MTV will play more videos when AT&T sells more rotary phones and the Dodgers return to Brooklyn.
As the torrent of in-house promotions during the "VMA" telecast made clear, MTV years ago decided its future lies more with redundant, low-budget reality shows than any regular video presence.
MTV today is more about stupid arguments at a beach house than Rihanna or Nickelback.
But maybe, after 26 years, it's time for MTV to say so - to end the pretense it has much of any connection to the music channel that shook up both the TV and record biz in the early 1980s.
MTV played a lot of videos in those days, using radio's classic top 40 principle: Play the hits and play 'em a lot. Its first veejays became goofy cult stars.
Nor did video kill the radio star. It made the radio star brighter. Within two years another golden age of top 40 flowered, with artists from Michael Jackson, Prince and Lionel Richie to Cyndi Lauper, Bruce Springsteen, Madonna and Whitney Houston.
MTV's reward was the hip aura all brands dream about. While its raw audience numbers were modest, it became almost a generic term, like "Coke" or "Kleenex." It was a beacon for a new generation of pop music fans and a lightning rod for a small band of often hilariously clueless critics.
MTV mattered.
For teenagers today, MTV is another media option. It's popular enough, but in the age of iPod, MySpace and American Eagle, it doesn't really define anything.
In truth, MTV might liberate itself by coming out as whatever new creature it already is. However proud it is of the brand it created, the current edition just blurs the picture by suggesting it's a place to visit for videos.
Then maybe some other channel could move in and put today's videos into the kind of attractive package MTV once did.
As it happens, this year's VMAs did pretty well in the ratings: 7.081 million viewers, to 5.76 million last year.
But that may only reinforce Timberlake's point: If that many people watch video awards on a channel that hardly plays any videos, imagine the potential audience on a channel that did.

The two latest additions to the SingStar franchise are hitting store shelves simultaneously next week. On September 18, SingStar 80’s and SingStar Amped will be released for the PS2 for the enjoyment of karaoke lovers everywhere. SingStar 80’s will take you back to a more embarrassing and yet so awesome time with songs by Madonna, Duran Duran, Wham!, Blondie, Cyndi Lauper, and Culture Club. Wow, just writing that down put a whole lot of songs in my head. SingStar Amped will have you singing alongside some of the great rockers like Nirvana, David Bowie, Foo Fighters, and Ozzy Osbourne. You can also get half of the Rock Band experience if you work out a way to sync up one of those bands’ songs on Guitar Hero with the exact same song on SingStar. Seriously, that’d be impressive.

I am not sure when this was taken but I love it. Maybe around 1988? Feel free to comment.
