In a humorous and ironic way his work comments on India’s rapidly changing society. To make his sculptures Gupta often uses materials from everyday Indian life, such as domestic stainless steel utensils, old machinery and cow dung.

  • Vik Muniz - Pictures of People
    31 January - 29 April 2007. The first major UK show of Brazilian artist Vik Muniz focuses on his series of portraits. The photographic images include works from art history and portraits of well-known people. His choice of materials to make his photographs reads like an extraordinary shopping list; chocolate, ink, peanut butter, sugar, soil, thread, glue, and more recently diamonds and caviar have all been used by Muniz. With a strong sense of irony and playful vitality he breathes new life into iconic images.
