A homesteading blog for people that are interested in homesteading but don't know how to start and for people that may have some experience to share.
I haven't been able to post much as I have been busy learning and designing grow areas for my vegetables. Everything grew and turned out better than I had ever thought last year. I grew 7 foot tomato plants, peppers, cucumbers and eggplant in the greenhouse. I also had a small garden spot but the soil here is like cement and nothing really turned out edible from the garden. This year I am building raised beds and filling with good soil and see what happens. Any pointers on this would be appreciated.
Well after finally picking out a place in the yard to put a greenhouse. I decided to start with a 12 x 20 metal hoop looking house with zipper door and windows(www.bettymills.com). There are 6 grow boxes made out of rough cut lumber (helps with cost) on the ground instead of shelves. Hopefully this will free up my time instead of weeding and chasing off the wildlife.
To my surprise the soil has a lot of rock and the greenhouse makes a quick fix to start growing this season. I have planted tomatoes, peppers, egg plant, radishes, lettuce, broccoli, beans, acorn squash and onions.
Has anyone tried to grow vegetables upside down I'd love to hear from you.
