However, Gareth Southgate’s side were made to ...

  • A Letter to Steve McClaren
Hi Stevie, Hope you’re enjoying your new job as England boss. I must say since your appointment last August, I’ve been feeling much more relaxed and secure as an England supporter. What a great run of games we’ve had since you took over. I particularly enjoyed the 6 hour traffic jam of getting to Old Trafford to watch that exciting 0-0 clash with Macedonia last October. A game that you followed by employing much needed tactical changes against Croatia by fielding an experimental 3-5-2 formation, which saw us crash out 2-0 on that occasion. I sure am glad I bothered making the trek to Zagreb, taking 3 days off work and spending 600 quid on tickets, airfares and hotels to witness that one. I am absolutely delighted you got the job over O’Neil and Scholari. I have never been so happy as an England supporter. I know you may think I am perhaps coming over a tad cynical here Stevie, but no I really mean it, sat here typing is one very happy England supporter. You see Stevie, for the first time in my life, I’ve been able to let go and get off the heart wrenching rollercoaster that is being an England supporter. It’s never happened before, but for the first time, I watched an England game yesterday and really didn’t care whether we won or lost. In ...

  • Premiership Betting (Sat 10th Feb) - Hammers To Bounce Back
WEST HAM UNITED have to be the bet of the day when they clash with fellow relegation candidates WATFORD at Upton Park on Saturday. This is simply a crucial game in the battle to survive the drop and although Curbishley has had some severe bad luck in terms of injuries to his new signings, attacking-wise he has an abundance of quality at his services. Watford on the other hand have endeavour and effort but have lacked that vital quality in the final third, especially taking into account the fact they lost ...

  • Why Rugby is Rubbish
been debated: Was that schoolboy in the box when he first picked up the football and so was it a penalty or not? The middle classes have taken a foul and called it a sport. It doesn’t change anything. They can say they have an official world cup and should be an Olympic sport but it doesn’t matter to me. The world cup final doesn’t count; it should have been abandoned after five minutes for persistent handball. It wasn’t a contest, just a game of football gone wrong. What makes the presence of rugby worse is rugger buggers lording it over football and sniffing over little things like diving. They constantly claim Rugby is a better sport because there’s no diving like in football. NEWSFLASH… that’s because ...

  • Match Report: Aston Villa 1 West Ham 0 - Hammers Nightmare For Upson
It seems that not even £17 million can save West Ham at the moment as the Hammers slumped to a disappointing 1-0 defeat at Aston Villa. It was a day to forget for Alan Curbishley’s men who lost new signing Matthew Upson to injury after just 28 minutes whilst the Villains grabbed all three points wit ...

  • Match Report: Middlesbrough 1 Arsenal 1 - Henry Rescues Gunners
Arsenal were grateful to their mercurial captain Thierry Henry after the Gunners striker grabbed a 77th minute equaliser at the Riverside. Arsene Wenger’s side were trailing to Yakubu’s 63rd minute penalty after Senderos had seen red for his challenge on the Nigerian striker. The Gunners altho ...

  • Match Report: Tottenham 0 Man Utd 4 - Spurs Smashed As United Run Riot
Three goals in ten minutes either side of half time saw United obliterate Spurs at White Hart Lane. The league leaders blew their opponents away but were fortunate to be awarded a contentious penalty on the stroke of half-time which Ronaldo dispatched with aplomb. The Red Devils then hit a quick fir ...

  • Match Report: Wigan 1 Portsmouth 0 - Latics Earn Vital Win
Wigan went into this game with 11 defeats in their last 13 games in all competitions, which included a club record nine consecutive matches. With target man Emile Heskey out and without a clean sheet in their last 10 games, the narrowest of victories must’ve seemed almost like a cup final win in a m ...
