  • WWDC Roundup 2/3: Leopard -- Beneath the Fur
As the blogosphere (and the media) has been talking about, a feature-complete beta version of Leopard was shown at Monday’s WWDC keynote, and distributed shortly thereafter. Apple’s Leopard overview covers all the main features (certainly all the ones obvious to the average consumer) -- but we’d like to the time to run through all [...]

  • High-Res Leopard Screenshot Collection
As it turns out, the screenshots provided on Apple’s website are surprisingly high quality (980×613). We’ve gone through and downloaded/renamed them all for your convenience. So without further ado, we present you with high-res Leopard screenshots/geek pr0n. MacDomain claims no rights to these images.  They are copyright Apple Inc, and simply mirrored here for your [...]

  • WWDC Roundup 1/3: Safari 3 Beta (Mac/Windows)
It was one of the many rumors floating around before the WWDC -- some astute members of the Mozilla community theorized that Safari might make its way over to the dark side sometime soon. It seemed a little incredible back then, but just a few hours ago, Jobs confirmed it -- Safari 3 has [...]

  • Crazy Apple Theory #304891: Apple TV to Mac OS X Conversion
This is the most interesting idea I’ve heard all week: There’ve been a lot of rumors swirling about the discontinuation of some machines in Apple’s lineup -- but nobody’s really come up with a good explanation why they might want to drop the 17-inch iMac and the Mac mini. I think I may have an [...]

  • iPhone Recieves FCC Approval
According to the documents published over at AppleInsider, the fabled iPhone has recieved approval from the FCC. This approval comes on the heels of Apple announcing that it is all set for an on-schedule launch of the iPhone. Good news for Apple gadget freaks all around.

  • Woz’s “Authors@Google” Talk (promoting iWoz)
Today’s media gem is a talk given by Steve Wozniac, Apple co-founder, as part of the “Authors@Google” program. It’s a little long (58:55) but it’s got some pretty good stuff in it. Probably a good choice if you’re into pre-Macintosh Apple history, and post-Apple Woz history. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ctGch5ejjT4

  • Apple Lisa Bootup: ∞ x 2
Nowadays, one of the focuses of Mac OS X optimization is the boot process. Back in the 1980’s, however, it seems that boot speed wasn’t a concern at Apple: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bV3Y_j0vOY According to the video’s author: This wasn’t edited at all... it does take this long too boot. The hourglass in the white box at the beginning is the machine [...]

  • Steve Jobs Introduces: Macintosh
This one’s too good to need introduction: Steve Jobs, in all his bowtie’d glory, introducing “Macintosh”. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgTW3R4FmHo Pure class. Mac Domain also has a full Betamax transfer, in H.264, of this historic speech, in addition to the other twenty-five or so other minutes of Mac commercials, promotional video material, etc. We’ll be putting that up as soon [...]

  • 20th Anniversary Mac
Looks like a pretty good deal to me. The Twentieth Anniversary Mac was something like a proto-Apple TV -- it had TV functionality, a good speaker system... and a fatally high price tag. Ah well -- it’s a nice reminder of Apple’s stylish flair in the mid-90’s.

  • “the pickle’s” Low-End Mac FAQ
On Computing.net, typically posting in the Mac sections, there’s user called “thepickle”. Chances are, if you post over there with trouble with your vintage Mac, thepickle will help. Well he’s got a site with gobs and gobs of info on all the low-end Macs, primarily 68K. If you’ve got a few spare hours, or [...]
