- Exponential growth of Blogosphere
Tim Jarrett has run some numbers based on the high water mark on Weblogs.Com, that suggest exponential growth of the Blogosphere. Check out this logarithmic graph of the high water mark since November 2001:
Tim says "we could be on the cusp of an exponential explosion in weblog activity, driven by the virtuous cycle of blogging: publish - subscribe - read - comment - publish."
In related news, Phil Wolff is running a service called blogcount that tracks various counts of weblogs. On Wednesday he noted that according to Blogómetro, there are more than twice as many Spanish language weblogs today than there were only six months ago.

- Some George Carlin for y'all
This popped into my head today, from a special George Carlin did for HBO in the '80's called Carlin at Carnegie:
Have you ever been going through the fridge and come across something... that you cannot... identify... at all?... It defies all reason.
Hmmm.....
Could be meat.....
Could be cake.
At times like this, I bluff:
[shouts over shoulder] "Honey... Is this good?"
[whiny voice] "I don't know -- what is it?"
[pause, confused look]
"I don't know..... It looks like..... MEATCAKE"
[whiny voice] "It's good! Put it back. Someone is saving it..... It'll turn up in something."
(That's what frightens me.)

- Reality-check!
I know from my parents who are both doctors, that things have been getting pretty sketchy in the medical profession here in the US for the last few years, but at least they're not this bad:
"...Four doctors and two patients, one of whom was paralysed and on an intravenous drip, were bound and handcuffed as American soldiers rampaged through the wards, searching for departed members of the Saddam regime.
"An ambulance driver who tried to carry Private Lynch to the American forces close to the city was shot at by US troops the day before their mission. Far from winning hearts and minds, the US operation has angered and hurt doctors who risked their lives treating both Private Lynch and Iraqi victims of the war. 'What the Americans say is like the story of Sinbad the Sailor -- it's a myth,' said Harith al-Houssona, who saved Private Lynch's life after she was brought to the hospital by Iraqi military intelligence."
